About this Team
At OpenAI, we’re here to do something extraordinary: build safe AGI that benefits everyone. That mission demands people who are not just brilliant, but deeply aligned with our values. Our Recruiting team is the gateway connecting exceptional humans to meaningful, high-impact work. We’re a close-knit, mission-driven team that takes pride in thoughtful, relationship-first hiring. We partner deeply across OpenAI to find, engage, and support the people who will shape the future of AI.
Our General & Administrative (G&A) and User Operations teams are critical to scaling OpenAI sustainably. These functions underpin how we operate, support our users, and enable the broader organisation to move with speed and rigor. Hiring in these areas focuses on building high-calibre teams across functions such as Finance, Legal, People, Operations, and User Operations.
About this Role
This is a high-impact role where you’ll operate as a strategic talent partner not just executing searches, but shaping how we attract, assess, and hire exceptional talent globally. You’ll own searches end-to-end, working closely with senior stakeholders to define hiring strategies, navigate complex markets, and deliver outstanding outcomes.
You’ll report to the regional recruiting lead and collaborate closely with global recruiting, People, and business leadership to scale our G&A and User Operations organisations in a thoughtful, high-quality way.
Your responsibilities
Own end-to-end hiring for G&A and User Ops roles, from scoping and calibration through to offer and close
Partner closely with senior leaders to understand team needs, define hiring strategies, and translate business priorities into actionable talent plans
Build and execute proactive, data-informed sourcing strategies to attract high-calibre and diverse talent across competitive markets
Act as a trusted advisor to hiring managers, driving alignment, challenging assumptions, and maintaining a consistently high hiring bar
Deliver an exceptional candidate experience, ensuring every interaction reflects OpenAI’s values and mission
Navigate complex, global hiring environments by partnering with People, Legal, and Compensation to ensure consistency, fairness, and compliance
Continuously improve recruiting processes, identifying bottlenecks and implementing scalable solutions to increase quality and velocity
Bring market intelligence and insights to stakeholders, influencing hiring decisions and shaping talent strategy
We’re seeking:
7+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally in-house at high-growth or high-bar environments
Proven track record of hiring for G&A and/or User Operations functions (e.g. Finance, Legal, People, Operations, User Ops)
Strong talent judgment able to assess both experience and potential, and consistently raise the bar
Comfortable operating as a strategic partner, influencing senior stakeholders and navigating ambiguity
Highly execution-oriented, with the ability to run multiple complex searches simultaneously without sacrificing quality
Skilled in building pipelines from scratch, especially in competitive or emerging talent markets
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across regions and cultures
Data-informed and structured in your approach, using insights to guide decisions and improve outcomes
Experience with modern recruiting tools (e.g. Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter) and a mindset for leveraging new technologies
